Four Work at Home Business Scams To Avoid

These days it seems that just about everyone wants to work from home or have their own home business. There are many benefits of working from home. A few reasons to work from home are that you get to work when you want, do what you enjoy, have a higher income potential, and numerous other reasons. But with the huge demand for people to work from home, scammers are finding ways to make a quick buck off this work at home craze and many people have fallen prey to them.

The following are a four work at home business scams you need to watch out for before when searching for a work at home or home business opportunity.

1) Envelope Stuffing Scams

This is one of the most famous of work at home scams. The ad states that you will be stuffing envelopes that the company sends you after you have paid a fee. They say you will be paid a certain amount for every envelope you stuff. The problem is you never get paid and you lose the money you paid the company.

2) Data Entry Scams

I'm sure you have seen, or soon will see, many advertisements promising you instant wealth just by doing data entry work at home. But most of them turn out to be nothing more than typing Google Adwords to promote the same site you just paid to gain access to. In other words all you are doing is setting up Google Adwords campaigns and using your own money to advertise their site for a small commission.

Google Adwords ads can be really expensive and drain your bank account quickly if you aren't careful and don't know what you are doing. Plus, you don't need to pay a "data entry" company to promote products on Adwords. You can do this on your own with a Clickbank and Google Adwords account.

3) 1-900 Scams

This one gives you a 1-900 number to call and get more details on a home business opportunity or a work at home job. The problem is that these numbers are not toll free, so you pay for the call don't end up getting any work at home information that is of use to you.

4) E-mail Sending Scam

With this one you are promised a certain amount of money just for sending e-mails. But first you have to pay the company for the necessary instructions. In return you get a list of e-mail addresses to which you can send e-mails. But the catch is you will be spamming people so you won't make much, if any, money and you could get in trouble for doing it.

Those are just a few of the many work at home business scams online today. You need to be very careful before spending your money on work from home jobs or opportunities. A simple search on Google for "home business scams" or "work at home scams" can give you a lot of information on the scams going around the internet.
