The Process of Selecting an Online Business

You've seen the claims of massive profits being made on the internet. Are they true? YES! ...Well, at least they can be. How can you get your share of this internet wealth? First off, I am not gonna lie, the odds are against you! Probably at least 90% of people who venture into internet marketing fail to make money. You are going need a plan, or some sort of process, that is proven to work. If you work this plan and stay true to the process, your chances of succeeding online are greatly improved.

Remember the process may work, but there is no guarantee that YOU will work. Success is absolutely dependent on you! If you are persistent, determined and willing to learn as you go, you should do very well.!

The online business selection process is broken down into 7 steps. They are listed below, in order, what will work if you put in the time and effort...

1. Niche Selection
2. Site Selection
3. Prioritizing the List
4. Product Selection
5. Presenting and Proposal
6. Logistics
7. Review

The seven-step process is a repetitive process. After reviewing, you may find that you have to go back to step one and do whatever you need to do to find a winner. Let's go through step one in more detail...

Step 1 - Niche Selection

- You will want to find a niche that is tightly focused within a wider niche. Basically, a niche within a niche. Typically the more narrow your focus, the easier it will be to rise to the top of that niche. Once you have conquered the tightly focused niche, you can usually expand to a wider niche, and on up the ladder. You can get ideas from online resources such as any of the big search engines, Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc... A narrow niche will usually have 2 to 4 key phrases associated with it. An example would be a wide niche of "home". Narrower niches would include "online home based business", "home business opportunity", "work at home business", etc... You can see that this would produce a pretty good list of 2 to 4 keyword phrases that would narrow the wider "home business" niche.

Another thing to keep in mind when selecting a narrow niche is the content that will be available for the products in the niche. Will you be able to find enough content related to the narrow niche to create plenty pages of information? The more content available or that can be produced, the better.

What are the best ways to identify a niche? There are probably as many ways to identify a niche as there are people looking for a niche.

Here are some tried and true methods to locate a niche that will allow you to identify some great niche ideas...

- Your own knowledge and/or personal interests. A hobby or passion for which you already have expertise is usually a great choice. Remember, you are an expert if you canback it up with useful information.

- Research: Articles, Browsing, Newsgroups. You can find all kinds of ideas looking through publications from many sources. Keep an eye out for the advertisements. If you see certain ones over and over, they are probably making money and would be worth looking in to.

- Paid-for Research. If you have more money than time, hire a consultant to find a niche that meets your specifications. You should be able to find excellent information with the right consultant. Be up front with them from the start as to your expectations, and they should be able to come up with great ideas.

- Keyword/Niche Search Tools. Another tried and true method is using keyword tools to find niches that will be profitable. Keep in mind that when you do a search on the search engines, such as Google, you are seeing the supply for that niche.

Keyword selector tools will provide you with the demand of a keyword. You want to find keyword phrases for your niche that have low supply and high demand. For example, a search on Google for "search engine optimization" shows about 17,500,000 sites that are listed for "search engine opimization". This might not be a good niche to start in because of the ratio of supply to demand. You want low supply and high demand.

You also want to see how hard it is to duplicate the higher ranking sites popularity. To assess this, check the sites Google PR rank, Alexa ranking, and number of back links to the site.

In later articles, we will also take a look at subsequent steps in the online business selection process...

Step 2. Site Selection

Step 3. Prioritizing the List

Step 4. Product Selections

Step 5. Presenting and Proposal

Step 6. Logistics

Step 7. Review

Strategies for Getting Indexed and Ranked Highly On Google

Getting your website indexed in numerous search engines is not nearly as important as getting it indexed by the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN. The vast majority of web traffic comes from Google and most of the rest comes from Yahoo and MSN. Getting top rankings in Google for significant keywords usually means your traffic will skyrocket.

You can take note of this by just bidding high enough on a Google Adwords ad to get the #1 spot for a competitive keyword. You'll see how fast your money drains away as the clicks roll in. This is NOT recommended unless you are experienced and know what you are doing, or have money to throw away. If you are not then just take my word for it.

Adwords is really hit or miss and the reality is that most web surfers are going to click on the organic search engine listings over the paid listings. Not too mention getting high rankings in the free organic search listings doesn't cost you anything. So what can you do to get indexed and achieve a high ranking in Google? There are actually more variables than can be discussed just one article, but I will cover a few of the basics...

First off, do not purchase a guaranteed inclusion in Google. It's better to get in yourself. Google will index your site based on numerous factors. Inbound links being an important one, but also one of the biggest is relevance. How significant is your site and if your ownership be verified. Yahoo also uses this method but it is not discussed in a lot of SEO forums for some reason. Also, the use of Google Sitemaps is quite significant because they give the GoogleBot a point of reference for your site. You cannot just load a Google ready XML Sitemap up on your website and expect to be indexed. You must create a Google Webmaster Tools account, add your site, (this is best done after you have already used the Add URL function for Google) verify your site through 1 of the 2 Google verification methods, and then upload your Google Sitemap. Once this is done, you have a base to work with and can guarantee at least basic URL inclusion in Google.

What about increasing your search engine rankings in Google? A lot of people think you can mass produce back links to your website and this will work to give you high rankings in Google, but it is a false assumption. Too many links too quickly will raise a red flag on your site and will most likely hurt you more than anything. You do need to build back links but do it slowly and consistently.

How is this achieved?

One way is by creating link partnerships with individual websites in your niche that have a high Google PR. Sites relevant to yours that are a PR3 to PR5 can have a significant degree of weight when linking your site. If you can get a link from a site even higher than this, your rankings will definitely improve. You can also get inbound links for your website by submitting articles to directories and websites with a link in the resource box pointing back to your site. Submitting your site to directories can also be very helpful.

Unique content is one of the most important aspects of your site. And when I say "unique content," I mean content that isn't just copied and pasted onto your site from someone else's site. Continually updating your site with fresh content is one of the best ways to increase your search engine rankings. You will also stand a good chance at bringing visitors back to your site over and over again because there will always be new content for them to benefit from. Other webmasters will also be much more likely to link to your site if it is updated with new content on a regular basis.

Your Meta-tags are not extremely important, but they are still worth putting in some time to make them search engine friendly. Google actually does uses the Title and Description tags for indexing so make sure these are done correctly.

All of the above is useful in getting your site indexed by Google and increasing your search engine rankings. It is important to research and learn about each one of these individual areas before you assume you've done enough. Research and hard work is the only way to achieve success, nothing comes easy!

How To Write Ads That Pull In Maximum Money

Before writing the sales copy for your next product, you should write a series of ads for the promotion of that product. For example, you might want to promote a new information guide for people who want to make money online. Here are the main points to consider when you sit down to write ads for your new campaign:

Product Selling Points

1. Write a list of 5 product benefits.

2. Explain in your own words the advantage of owning the product.

3. Write down why your product is different or better than your competition's product.

4. Write down what need your product will satisfy for the user.

5. List your call to action. Describe exactly why the customer should buy your product now.

Putting It All Together

The reason for listing the answers to numbers 1-4 above is to establish a Unique Selling Position (USP). The USP is the basis for the body of your ad and will determine if you capture the interest of your prospects. Think of your product's USP as what makes it different and better than your competitor's product.

Point number 5 is your call to action. This is the line of your ad that will get people to take action and investigate further. This line should clearly tell your prospect what you want them to do next. You will get a higher response rate on your ads if you do this in every ad.

Use This Formula To Write A Good Selling Ad

1. Grab their attention with a killer headline!

2. Keep their interest with a line or two about your unique selling point.

If you are using a short ad format, like Google Adwords, you are limited to a headline and two lines of ad description. In a standard ezine ad, you will have more room to make a longer ad. A good rule of thumb is to keep the advertisement simple in nature, no matter how much room is allowed for your ad. The eyes of the people on the internet scan an ad in mere seconds. You never want to clutter the space in your ad with unnecessary words.

3. Build the prospect's desire to know more about your product. Use one line to tell them why they should own the product. Use one of campaign points 2, 3, or 4 mentioned in the Product Selling Points.

4. Use the last line of the ad for a strong call to action.

This formula is taught in business colleges as the "AIDA" method of ad writing. To sum up the parts of the "AIDA" formula, you first you get the prospect's Attention with a good headline, then develop their Interest in the product, next you give them a reason to Desire the product and then ask them to take a specific Action that leads to the sale.

With practice you can write advertisements that lead to a very high response rate. This will help stretch your advertising budget and increase your Return On Investment (ROI). With this simple system in your hands you can now create ads that will bring you the most business and pull in maximum money for the least cost.

Why Viral Traffic Is the Best Traffic

Today's free home business tips come from the blog of Jonathan Ledger. Yes, he is the one you have heard so much about lately after he released his $7 Secrets report.

In his newest post he explains why viral traffic is the best form of traffic.

Here are a couple excerpts from the post...

Viral traffic is better than search
engine traffic, and it's better than
pay-per-click traffic. Why do I say
this?

Let's compare viral traffic against the
other two:

Summing it Up

It has been my experience that viral
traffic is by far the best traffic you
can have. It's cheap, it gets almost
instantaneous results, it's less work
to maintain and it converts better.
That's an equation for success that no
other form of traffic can touch.

The $7 Secret to Making Money Online

Hey biz tips readers, I have a recommendation for you that I could not wait another second to post. I had to tell you about this right now...

I know anyone reading this who also happens to be a "Warrior" has already heard of it by now since it was recommended by Allen Says. But I wanted to tell all my readers about it as well. Quite honestly I think it's genius!

It's called $7 secrets and it is an incredible way to make loads of money online without a lot of time or investment on your part. And you can do it over and over again! Plus, as a nice bonus to the method, you will be building your list and making a name for yourself. Talk about a win/win/win situation for YOU!

Here's a little blurb taken right out of the book...
This method also takes away the first three of the four
major problems with information products:

1. It’s easy to convince people to pay seven dollars for a product.
2. The price is just right for most people’s pocketbooks.
3. Refunds are virtually non-existent.

And there’s an added fourth reason for only charging seven dollars:
4. There’s virtually no support required for the product.

I bought, read it and I highly recommend it!

Five Easy Steps to Online Business Success

Welcome back biz tips readers. Today's free home business tips were written by a good friend of mine, Jason Gazaway (yeah you've probably heard of him). So I will pass you on to him now...

============================

Easy Steps to Online Success

Today I wanted to discuss the 5 main steps to online marketing success. If you can follow these steps, you will become successful online. I use these techniques and they are also used by several other successful Internet marketers who pull in thousands a day...

1. Set your initial goal.

Whether you want to generate $100 per day or $1000 per day, the first step is to set a goal for yourself. Often times you will find it most effective to set short term and long term goals.

This will allow you to obtain small successes while still recognizing the big picture as to where you want to go. Those who become successful within Internet Marketing, or any business, have set goals and persevere until they achieve these goals.

2. Research and Select a Niche Product to Promote.

Would you buy a car without researching it before hand? Probably not. Do your research prior to selecting a niche to promote. Often times people get way over their heads before they have a solid understanding of how they are going to make money within a niche.

We highly suggest researching industries, products, competitors, advertising costs, and overall opportunities prior to commencing any advertising campaign. You can research markets using the following guidelines:

3. Find Profitable Keywords.

You will need to research keywords and the average cost per click (CPC) over an industry before you begin promoting it. Some industries have thousands of keywords, while some are so specific that only have a handful of keywords.

A smaller industry can convert just as well as a large one, so don't be fooled by industries with keywords and low traffic.

4. Find High ROI Affiliate Programs.

The last research step is to find suitable affiliate merchants within the industry that you want to promote. There are many affiliate networks that have thousands of affiliate programs across different industries.

These include:

- CJ.com (Commission Junction)
- Linkshare.com
- ClickBank.com

If you are promoting products through a PPC engine such as Google Adwords or Yahoo! Marketing, you will need to make sure that the affiliate program will pay high enough to make it profitable. You typically want to stick to programs that pay over $15/commission. Alternately you can join a program like Wealthy Affiliate and use their recommendations on products that they have tested. (recommended)

5. Start an Advertising Campaign.

Once you find a product that you want to sell, you'll want to create an Advertising program for it. We suggest promoting the product using Google Adwords or Yahoo! Marketing as these are the highest converting PPC engines available.

The following are 2 resources that we highly recommend. These resources focus on teaching you how to create successful advertising campaigns:

For Help, or personal coaching on creating your advertising campaigns I *highly* suggest the two following resources:

http://www.homebasedbusinessindex.com/affiliate.html
http://www.homebasedbusinessindex.com/adwords.html

I personally am a member at Wealthy Affiliate and I would not have experienced the same amount of success without the support of Kyle & Carson, the resources they provide, or the assistance that many of the fellow members at Wealthy Affiliate have given me.

Take the Leap!

Once you have accomplished the previous 5 steps, it is up to you to
take the leap.

That's all for today...

Take care,
Jason Gazaway
