Marlon Sanders was one of the first big time internet marketers and he continues to be an internet marketing guru to this day. There were only a handful of people I followed when I first started my online business and he is one of them.

One thing I didn't know is that Marlon has a blog full of priceless online business tips. I just found it today and had to share it with you.

It's called, "Marketing In a Minute!" (With Marlon Sanders) "The Online Blog That Helps You Grow a Prosperous Internet Business!"

What are the Advantages of an Online Home Business?

Are you tired of waking up early, sitting in traffic, listening to your boss yell, and working long hours? There is a solution to the rat race we call the corporate world but it will take lots of learning, hard work and determination.

You can avoid all the negativity associated with going to a job everyday by starting your own online home business. As you have most likely figured out, an online home business refers to a business of your own that is run from your home computer.

Most people dream of a home based business not only because it gives them the opportunity to work at home without the hassles of commuting to work everyday, but also because of the possibility of huge financial rewards. An online home business can be risky but you can avoid most of that risk by being smart about it. Once you have successfully established an online home based business, you have officially struck gold!

Having a home based business means you have the freedom to control how and when you work, and to operate your business using your own unique style and skills. On top of that, starting an online home business does not require a lot of capital and or overhead costs.

One good way to start up a home based online business is to choose a home business idea that you are already familiar with or a hobby you have that could be used to make money. That makes it more fun for you and easier to succeed.

These days most homes already have telephones and computers so using those for your home based business would not be an additional expense. If you are already equipped with internet and a computer, a printer, and a phone, you can use them for your online business and get it started today.

An online home business can not only be started on minimal capital but it also creates savings for you as an entrepreneur. The savings can be in many forms. Some examples are: gas, work clothes, vehicle depreciation, time, tax benefits and many other things which you would otherwise have to spend money on if you worked for someone else.

If you have a regular job, you most likely get a fixed amount of money every month no matter how much effort you put into your work. If you own a home based business, what you will earn will depend on how dedicated you are to your online business, how much time you put in, and how hard you work. In other words, with an online home business you control your own destiny.

There are many advantages for having your own home based business. I have outlined some of them above. You probably even have your own reasons for wanting an online business that you can add to the list. Whatever the reason may be, there is no doubt that having your own business is much better than working for someone else.

Tips to Improve Your Home Based Business Productivity

It may have taken you a while but you finally did it! ...You have taken a brave, bold step by starting your own home based business.

There's no turning back at this point, and the stakes have definitely been raised. Now it's time to start reaping the rewards of your courage and hard work. It's time to make money, and lots of it! But the only way to make money with your home based business is to take action and get productive.

Below are some tips to help you increase your productivity while running your home based business and make the money you deserve.

1) Create a "work" schedule and stick to it.

Having flexible hours and freedom is one of the top benefits of owning a home based business, but it can quickly lead to the failure of your business if you don't know how to manage your time and actually get some work done.

Do not make the mistake of thinking that just because you control your own time, you don't need to have a set work schedule or stick to a routine. Set a particular time of the day for your home based business. It can be anything you want. Maybe something like every day from 8am to 1pm and then from 4pm to 6pm or whatever fits best for you.

This schedule is especially important in the beginning stages of your home based business while you are still getting used to working at home. Don't give in to the temptation of putting off your work for a later time in the day because you will get in that habit and soon you won't ever get anything done. All you have to do is devote a certain number of hours every day to your home based business, and you can spend the rest with your family or doing anything else you want.

2) Get rid of distractions.

Don't work with the TV on or with other people in the room or with anything else that you get distracted by. Doing so will greatly diminish your home based business productivity. Fulfill your business duties for the day in a quiet, "work friendly" area of your home. Stay away from any distractions until you are done working for the day.

3) Set long-term and short-term goals for your home based business.

You probably have one overall goal that you intend to achieve in the long run, but it's also good to set short-term goals and increase your goals as you get further into your business. You may aim for many goals daily, a few bigger ones for the week, some even bigger ones for the month, and one large goal each year. Your short-term goals should help you achieve your larger long-term goal.

4) Have fun.

The reason you started your home based business was partly to be free of the stress of a regular job so have fun with your business. Treat it as the serious business it is but don't let it take over your life. Deal with your home based business complications with passion, determination, and some humor, and your home based business will be destined to succeed.

Six Reasons Why Having a Website is Critical to Your Business

Even in this day and age where the internet is as much a part of most of our lives as anything else, there are many business owners who don't realize the importance of having a website for their business.

So, "Why is having a website so critical?" You might ask.

Here are six good reasons to have a business website:

1) A business website builds your credibility.

Your website has a large impact on how a potential customer sees you. A professional design, well written text, helpful product/service information, contact information, and other resources on your site can dramatically increase the trust people have in your company. It lets them know you are real, helpful, knowledgeable, and up with the times. If you put in the effort to develop a quality website for your business, you will have already started a relationship with your visitors.

2) A website keeps your business open 24/7 worldwide.

There are more than a billion people online around the world. Many of them are no doubt looking for what you offer in your business. By having a website, you open your business up to the whole world and an incredible amount of people who would never find you otherwise. With the click of a mouse, customers can get to your businesses website from almost anywhere at any time.

3) Websites are very powerful sales tools.

Selling your products on a website can be an amazing way to expand your business. You have an easily accessible storefront that costs virtually nothing compared to a brick and mortar store and can reach millions more people. A good sales letter can work wonders in hooking visitors on your product/service and making them buy.

Even if you can't actually sell your services directly online, a website is still a very powerful asset to your business. It can be the first step in convincing visitors of why they need your products/services. It gets them prepared to buy, and then they can contact you via your site to actually make the purchase.

4) A website makes word of mouth referrals easy to do.

Referrals are one of the best sources for new customers. Having a website makes it easy for your customers to refer other people because they can simply send friends and business associates to your website. Website addresses are usually easier to remember than phone numbers and people are more likely to check out your site than they are to call you.

5) Websites increase the value of your advertising.

Putting your website address on all of your advertisements, business cards, and company literature is a simple, yet effective, way to draw potential customers in. Visiting a website is much easier than writing, visiting an offline business, or even calling. Customers get the information they need and don't have to wait for a real person to help them. Also, it's usually more comfortable to visit a website because there is nobody around to make them feel pressured.

6) Keep in contact with customers and potential customers.

There will frequently be people who are interested in what you have to offer, but for whatever reason they are not be ready to buy right now. If you stay in contact with them they will immediately think of you when they are ready. You can put a form on your website to collect names and email addresses from visitors. Then you can periodically send out a newsletter or other promotions via email. You can also do this with people who have already purchased from you to help encourage repeat customers.

Now you have six reasons why a website is beneficial to your business and why you should build one. There are even more reasons but those six should be more than enough to convince you to get a website and grow your business exponentially!
