Business Advertising Tip - Billboards

Billboard advertising is nothing new. We have all seen them for years... you know... the big huge signs "billboards" on the side of the road with an advertisement for some business on them.

You know why you have seen them for years? Because they work! Companies wouldn't still be paying for the advertisements on the billboards after all these years if they didn't work.

You can get one a spot on one of those billboards for relatively cheap. I am sure the price differs in all areas and depends on the location of billboard. However, I have seen some pretty low rates for billboards in high traffic areas.

If you can get your business advertisement on a billboard in a high traffic area I am betting you will be able to generate quite a few new customers. This could work for an online or offline business.

Check the rates in your local area. If it's in your budget I think one of these ads could be well worth it.

Google Pagerank and Linking Explained

OK, so this isn't really a free traffic tip but it is VERY important information for your Work at Home Business Website. It will also help you get traffic when you implement the techniques.

So what am I talking about? ...

... An article I came across recently called "Pagerank & How to get it". There are 2 parts to the article and it comes out to about 15 pages total. However, they are short pages and very informative.

I highly suggest you read these articles if you have a business website. You will learn a lot about google pagerank (PR) and how to get it. Even if you think you know all there is to know (like I did) you will probably still learn something.

This will increase the chances of people doing the specific task you are offering the free vacation voucher for. Promotion Tip - COOPS

If you don't know what a coop is I will tell you really quick... It's basically just a group of people putting advertising dollars together in order to get prospects for their business.

You can get more bang for your buck by doing mass advertising with a group and giving each person in the COOP a percentage of the leads generated.

There are some home business opportunites out there that have really good coops set up for the members to join if they want to. Probably the most well-known of these is SFI marketing group.

The corporate headquarters of SFI offers a coop and so do many of the group leaders within the business. I actually have 3 shares of the COOP that my group leader provides. That's 75 guaranteed sign-ups every month. For a very good price.

Check into your business opportunity or affiliate program if you are a part of either and see if they offer a coop. You won't find an easier way to get highly targetted, highly responsive, and guranteed sign-ups.

Free Work at Home Business Traffic Tip - Guestbooks

There are many people that have guestbooks on their websites. A lot of these websites are high ranking and get many visitors. A lot of them also have a guestbook that has a high google PR value.

Do you know what this means? If not, you will in a second!

It means you can go and sign these guestbooks to bring traffic and/or PR to your website. Most guestbooks allow you to put a link to your website in the comment. This gives a link to your website (that's a very good thing). Plus, anyone reading the guestbook may see your link and check your your website (another really good thing).

It's easy to do... just search for your topic and then the words "sign guestbook" after it. For example let's say your website focuses on working at home...

You can go to google or any other search engine you like. Then put in this search... "work at home" "sign guestbook" ... It will bring up sites that have a work at home topic and that have a guestbook for you to sign. Pretty cool, eh?

Don't just randomly post a comment on every guestbook you find. Instead check out the website and leave a sincere comment. This will keep your reputation intact and provide the webmaster with what they are looking for. Win, Win situation!

You can also put a guestbook on your website very easily. This will help you in the long run because it lets visitors make comments (they like that) and it will bring people to your site that are looking to sign a guestbook. While they are there they might find something that interests them... and YOU GET PAID!

You can find a quick and easy way to add a guest book to your site at the Newbie Club. The offer free guestbooks that only take a few minutes to set up. That's where I got mine.

Internet Marketing Tip - Surveys

Putting a survey on your website is a really good way to not only attract more people to your site but also learn the needs of your visitors.

Some people like to make their opinion heard, others just think it's fun to take surveys, and still other people like to take surveys for other reasons. Whatever their reason may be... People like to take surveys.

Adding one to your site is a fairly easy process but it can attract more visitors and make your current visitors come back for more.

However, a bigger advantage of having a survey on your site is to collect information from your visitors. You can ask them questions designed to give you more info about what they are looking for. Then, you can use the information to give them what they want.

Maybe you find out your visitors are looking for more "how to" information on widgets. Well, now all you have to do is put up a "how to" widget page.

There are lot of directories out there that you could have your website listed in. Many of them have a high PR rating and get a lot of traffic.

Having your website listed in them gives you a link back from a high PR site... Very good for raising your rankings! It also gives another place for peopke find your business.

A couple of the more well-known directories are the DMOZ Open Directory Project and the Yahoo! Directory. These are a little harder to get into than some but it is WELL worth it if you do.

Hey, the theme we are focusing on with this blog right now is "Advertising, Marketing, and Promotion". I know most of the time I offer free tips but sometimes I think using a product like this would be very useful. If you offer a tangible product then giving free demonstrations is a great way to make sales. A demonstration allow people to see exactly what your product can do for them.
 
You can show the features and benefits of your product so people will know what they are getting. This is much more convincing than an ad trying to tell them what your product is.
 
Even if someone wasn't out to purchase your product they could see you giving a demonstration and suddenly be interested.
 
You can give demonstrations in stores, shows, homes/offices, TV, or even the street. If you offer a good enough product and a great demonstration you could easily draw nice sized crowd in a short amount of time.
 
What's one more advantage of demonstrations? .... They're FREE! All you pay for the marketing is your time.

Home Business Advertising Tip --- Book Inserts

I learned this little trick from a friend on mine a couple months ago. It's actually a pretty darn good method for advertising. I am not sure why I never thought of it before but I didn't!
 
Anyway, here it is....
 
Make up slips of paper about the size of a bookmark with a nice little advertisment for your business on them. Make sure you have the name of your business, the nature of your business, and your website URL on them. Plus, anything else you can fit that you think sounds good.
 
Then make a bunch of copies of this "bookmark". Now, go to every bookstore, library, and anywhere else that has books. Find the section of the store that has the books written on your business topic (or any topic similar).
 
Put your little advertisement in as many of the books related to your topic as you can find. If you can find enough bookstores, libraries, etc... your advertisement could be shown to a very large amount of people. This will be targetted traffic as well because these people are looking at books on your business topic. That means they are already interested in something similar to what you offer!
 
This won't cost you hardly anything but time so any sales you make will be pretty much all profit. Plus, your new customers might tell a few friends about you. After a while you could have a lot more people doing business with you just from a few book inserts.
 
Give it a try... you have nothing to lose!

Marketing Tip -- Press/News Releases

You can bring in a LOT of visitors to your website/business in a very short amount of time with a well written press release.
 
Similar to writing an article or a column in a newspaper you will write about something in the current news (related to your business) and then back it up with credible facts. Add a little infor about yourself and you are set.
 
You can also write a press release about your own business. If you have done something recently like start a new line of product, add a great resource to your site, sponsor some big event, etc... you can write about it.
 
The best thing about these is that they are free and targetted. So whether or not you get 10 or 10,000 visitors all you will have spent was your time.

An e-book is quite similar to a regular book except it is entirely online and a heck of a lot easier to produce and distribute.

E-books are the "Big Thing" right now and only seem to get more popular all the time. Writing an ebook will give you a huge amount of credibility in your field. By creating a good ebook you can be seen as an expert basically overnight.

Writing an ebook can be a fairly simple task. Just go out an investigate what others have written about. What people need to know. And how to write an ebook. Within a couple weeks you can have one written and ready to go.

Then all you do is sell it, offer it as a freebie, set up an affiliate program with it, let others give it away, etc...

Free Website Marketing Tip --- Games

Computer & Video Games are big business. In fact, some
recent reports have said that the video gaming
industry is now larger than the movie industry. Plain
& simple... people like to play games and are willing
to pay for it.

One idea that is used by one of the online travel
sites, Orbits, has been to include games in their
popup ads... especially on their ESPN.com ads. They
have a flash version of Dunk-the-Dummy, Miniature
Golf, Homerun Derby, or Longest Drive games.

This works because they combine the natural sporting
tendency of their audience with uniquely designed ads
for plane tickets, hotels and rental cars.

In one case they have a 3-hole mini-golf course, with
one hole shaped like a plane, the next whole shaped
like a hotel and the last hole shaped like a car.

While very interesting, I did not find it relevant
until I received this tip from Sandra Jackson
regarding "Advergames".


She claims that having an online golfing game, has
"brought over 25,00 players a day to my site".
Not sure if that was 2,500 or 25,000... but it's a good
number of visitors in either case.


The key here is the site that had the Golfing game also
sold Golfing related products... so the people coming
to play golf online were good prospects for the
products the site sold.

Also, the longer a visitors stayed on the site playing
golf the more products the site was to able advertise.
More exposures translates into a higher likely hood
that the site will display a product the visitor may
be interested in ...and the longer a visitor stays on
a site, the more likely it is they will come back to
the site in the future.

Not all businesses can easily combine a game that is
related to the topic of their site, but you can adapt
traditional games such as hang-man to use words
relating to your subject.

In addition to advertising your own products, you can
also use the Google AdSense program to increase the
revenue generated from game generated traffic.

Free Website Advertising --- Don't-Touch-My-Ads.com

Here is an easy way to advertise your website for free. It's called Don't-Touch-My-Ads.

It's simply a traffic exchange system where you will display ads on your desktop to earn credits so your ads will be displayed on other people's desktop.

Here are some of the keypoints to DTMA:

**Makes use of previously wasted computer time.
**Your Ads Cannot be ignored and will always be seen.

With Don't-Touch-My-Ads your ad doesn't rotate away every minute like it does with screen saver programs. Instead the user must check out your ad or dismiss it before they can keep working on their computer. It's much better that way!

I have been using DTMA for a few days now and like it a LOT so far. I am not sure how much more traffic it has brought because it is too early to tell. However, I know ads have been getting shown on my desktop so mine must be getting shown too.

They aren't all that annoying either. I sorta thought they would be but they really aren't. I have actually come across some pretty interesting sites. The ones I don't want to see I just close.

Well, blogger still has a bug so it seems that my old blog is either lost forever or it will be a while until they get it back.

I was sick of waiting so I started a new blog. Then I copied/pasted most of the recent posts from the last blog into this one.

I obviously didn't paste all the posts from the old blog into this one but I did get pretty much all of good ones from the past month or so.

I am sorry for all the inconvenience of it being down for the past week. There was nothing I could do about it but wait.

Free Home Business Promotion Tip - Guarantees

Guarantees are like Gold! People are very skeptical by nature so offering some sort of guarantee will help to ease their worries.

Here are just a few examples:

"Double Your Money Back If..."
"XXXX amount of dollars in the next __ days or your money back"
"Satisfaction Guaranteed or you get ____ free"
"Money back plus $XX if we don't deliver on our promise"

The point is you want to make them do business with YOU! If your competitor doesn't offer a guarantee then you are already a step ahead. The odds are with you that the prospect will pick you.

Make sure you ALWAYS honor the guarantee! Nothing will drive your business into the ground faster then a bunch of people telling everyone they know not to trust you.

You also want to make sure that the gurantee isn't far fetched. Don't guarantee them they will make $1,000,000 dollars in 30 days or less. We ALL know that's a bunch of crap!

You need to ease their mind with a guarantee not make is so far fetched that they run the other way even faster.

Free Business Advertising Tip - Coupons

There is no doubt that people love getting stuff for free or cheap. Offering a "buy one get one free" or "buy one get one half off" coupon or even just a "50% off" coupon is a great way to get people to purchase from you.

If they are already going to buy whatever product or service you sell then you offering an incentive will most likely bring them to purchase from you.

You don't only have to use this technique with offline business. Just put some sort of redeemable coupon or code in your online promotions and you can use this just the same online. Then, when someone comes to your website they type in the code and get their discount, or freebie, or whatever!

If you offer great customer service, quality products, and they are satisfied with their purchase then there is a good chance they will come back to you next time, even without a coupon. A great way to spread the word about your business is to sponsor events in your area. There are many games, events, charity drives, intramurals, little leagues, etc... That are just waiting for people like you to give a little bit of your $$$ to help out.
